"As a business owner and a black man in this country there have been many obstacles to overcome. It took years of hard work and dedication to see Mankind go from a dream to a thriving local cannabis company in San Diego. I’m proud to have helped build a company that stands for equality and for civil liberties for all people, regardless of color, gender or beliefs.
In 8 minutes and 46 seconds of video a precious life was taken from this world and it hurts me to my core. But from pain comes the birth of something special that moved an entire planet of people. Our Civil rights leaders, King Jr, X, Evers, Lewis, Kennedy, Newton, and Seale are smiling down from the heavens on us as they see a rainbow of people marching together.

While we support the right to protest we also have a mission to protect our customers and staff at all times and recognize that some of the protests have turned towards damaging local businesses.⁠

As a result we are taking extra security measures to protect our community, our staff and our livelihood. You may notice some differences such as increased security and protection placed over windows. These things are done to ensure the safety of those coming to Mankind. We remain open our normal business hours and provide our customers with honest, caring, and customer focused service. ⁠

In lieu of the unthinkable actions that have occur

In lieu of the unthinkable actions that have occurred within the black community by our policing systems, Mankind would like to take a moment to honor the lives that have been lost and stand on the side of solidarity with their families and friends. We are deeply saddened by the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, among the countless other black men and women that deserve to still be here with us today.

San Diego is a place where many diversities co-exist and there is no place for racism in it. There is no place for non-violent protests to be greeted with violence. Thank you to everyone that is in pursuit of not being silenced and continue protesting, despite the dangers involved.
As a dispensary that aids in medical relief to our local community, we will relentlessly be on the side of the people and put our efforts into creating change. We are sending love and support to those experiencing the loss of our family and friends and will be consciously working as an ally. We are ready for change and hope you will be there with us.
